#100HAPPYDAYS ROUND 2: DAYS 51-60

51Day 51: Just a basic picture of my lunch. It was really delicious and super healthy though.

52

Day 52: My bestie came up for a quick pop-in, and we went to watch Beauty and The Beast.

53

Day 53: Makeup spoils. I really have such a problem. Rimmel is one of my favorite brands, and I am liking Essence quite a lot these days – for a “cheaper” brand they really have quality products.

54

Day 54: My mom got me these bunny slippers for Easter. They are so toasty and have the additional benefits of being bunnies.

55

Day 55: Another manicure, this a Revlon one. I’ve really gone for the pinks lately.

56

Day 56: To get more steps in, I again visited the Nature reserve. It is such a beautiful place and I am always so surprised that it is smack in the middle of Joburg and manages to be so quiet.

57

Day 57: My favorite snacks. 70% Lindt is as dark as I’ll go, and it is such a delight of tastes. It is really low in sugar, so if you are craving some chocolate, you only need to look as far as this.

58

Day 58: I watched Warm Bodies for the 100th time, and I enjoyed it. Also see my crochet project here? It is growing super-fast!

59

Day 59: This was SO good.

60

Day 60: Had drinks with the work colleagues at the Hogshead in Illovo. It was lovely, and although I didn’t get a picture of it, their Consol glasses look fantastic.

#100HappyDays ROUND 2: Days 31-40

So it is Monday again, and I thought I’d post this specifically as a reminder about happy things, not Monday things. However, I am almost going on leave and seeing my bestie, so today is pretty great!

31

Day 31: I went for a walk in the nature reserve close to where I live. It is really beautiful there, and it was really relaxing walking in the green after a long day at work.

32

Day 32: The crochet-bug has been around significantly more frequent now that it is a slight bit cooler. I am trying heroically to finish this granny square blanket that I started over a year ago. Wish me luck!

33

Day 33: I sat down with my mom and sister and watched another old-school film I haven’t yet seen. Andy McDowell has NO clue how acting works, but I did like Hugh Grant. He was so handsome as a younger man.

34

Day 34: I went back to the same nature reserve for another walk. glorious!

35

Day 35: Some wine before Power Rangers. Did it make the movie better? Not sure, but might have contributed.

36

Day 36: I do love this Avon French Manicure nail polish. It always comes out looking so pretty!

37

Day 37: I love these pretty rings I bought!

38

Day 38: I bought this USN shake after I finished my Nutritech shake. Further investigation reveals that this is actually just a bit too sweet for me. Anyway, at the price it goes for I will definitely finish it. Maybe it grows on me!

39

Day 39: At this stage in my life I have no issue admitting I love buying shoes. It is my own money, so I couldn’t give a damn about opinions anymore. Anyhow, here is my tan heels I purchased recently. #love

40

Day 40: Attended a babyshower. Let’s be real – most women face these only because you like the mom-to-be and not because of any actual potential fun. I have to say, this one turned out great. I am happy I went!

What have you been up to lately? Let me know!

#100HappyDays: Day 81 – 92

81

Day 81:

Easter was such a lovely family event. Way too much sugar was ingested, ensuring that I felt vaguely ill for a few days. But it was totally worth it! How lovely are these cupcakes, cleverly decorated by my sister’s mother in law?

82

Day 82:

Following the great sugar ingestion of Easter, I forced myself to go for a walk/run in the nature reserve. This week my sole focus is sorting out a gym contract, because I’ve proven that I can’t exercise on my own at home. It is stalling my weight loss project and I really think if I can sort that out, the rest will be much easier.

83

Day 83:

Did my nails with this Avon gel polish, but I was so disappointed by the quality and that it peeled within the first day.

84

Day 84:

Reading this wonderful series again. The books remain so touching, hilarious and entertaining.

85

Day 85:

Driving in peak hour traffic in Johannesburg is such a schlep, but scenery like this makes it slightly more bearable!

86

Day 86:

Another day, another iced coffee. Nom!

87

Day 87:

Me, pictured through the sunroof of a limo for a bachelorette. This whole night was quite insane, but fun. But I’m never driving in a limo again.

88

Day 88:

Doggie cuddles!

89

Day 89:

Continuing the insanity of the weekend, my house flooded. I am just going to say that my reactions and that whole day was not something to post on a 100 days of happy post. However, I found this pic of my sister and myself in primary school. How adorable?!

90

Day 90:

Finally in the 90’s! Can you believe I got this far?!

Our company gave us all a mammoth pack of stickies. It made me happier than I ever thought possible.

91

Day 91:

After the longest struggle imaginable with my service provider I finally upgraded to the Sony Xperia Z5 compact. So far I’m loving it!

92

Day 92:

Finished this incredible book (review up this week), and it has been such an interesting read.

#100HappyDays: Days 31 – 37

Happy Monday everyone! Back today with my weekly updates on the #100HappyDays challenge. So far, so good.

31

Day 31:

I… bought shoes again. Oops. Actually they just jumped into my car window and I had to take them home. What’s a girl to do?

32

Day 32:

Had this delicious halloumi salad at work. It was so NOM.

33

Day 33:

Had a lovely run at the Kliprivier Nature Reserve and some thinking time with a friend.

34

Day 34:

These clouds while I was running. Sometimes it is so wonderful to realize how insignificant the human race is.

36

Day 36:

So. I started drinking herbal teas instead of a straight dose of caffeine through the day. It hasn’t been easy, but rooibos is delicious and it makes life somewhat better. I’m not completely insane and am still drinking a cup of coffee in the morning. But. I might growl at people in the afternoon due to severe lack of caffeine.

37

Day 37:

Spent the day with a lovely bride to be, celebrating, and eating way too many fudge brownies. I am not eating ANYTHING next week. Okay, I’ll eat. But not brownies.

What made you happy the past week?

PS: Did you pick up the mistake?

What happened this weekend, bliss and three very irritating things

First of all, the last few weeks have been so wrong in terms of eating. I can’t stop. It just seems like I have flipped this mental switch, and now I need to turn it back. Immediately. I ate slightly better on the weekend than I did during the rest of last week, but I still desperately need to stop eating. In a bid to save myself, I have packed tons of (healthy) food.

We are hosting a Halloween party! Guess who my character will be?

 Bellatrix_Lestrange_Wanted

Friday night we had pizza with my sister and her husband. It was very delicious. I read for most of the night, finishing Mushy Peas on Toast by Laurian Clemence. I loved the book for so many reasons – it is really, really funny, it is a proudly Johannesburg story, and the writing style is very easy to read, and well written.

I also started Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. It is the second time around that I am reading it, but I really am enjoying it so much more now. The book is wonderfully written, full of little facts and theories and ideas. Per se, I do not enjoy self-help books or autobiographies, but this book is a prime example of how something can work if you do it right.

Saturday I went to a friend’s birthday braai, and it was very nice. Saturday I encountered the three very irritating things. I have been slightly annoyed with this pompous idiot for a bit now, but I always choose to remain silent – he is dating a friend, and I really don’t want to offend my friend.

Three very irritating things:

Saying: “I don’t swear”

Well, fucking congratulations for mentioning it to me. I am so thankful for this piece of insight into your self-important mind.  No, really.

Who mentions stuff like this?

Someone who wants to be patted on the back and told they are such exemplary beings.

Me, being a bit childish at times, promptly starts to swear more than my usual quota.

Prick.

Saying: “I don’t drink”

Once again, congratulations. We are not the type of friends that rag on you when you don’t consume alcohol. We couldn’t care less. Then why bring it up? Because you want to be told you are such a wonderful person.

Saying: “We don’t celebrate Halloween”

Yes, we were all planning to sacrifice a chicken that night. Now you stopped us. No one CELEBRATES it; we have fun by dressing up as funny characters and then having a good time – just another reason to have fun.

These three things were done by the same person in one evening. And after several months of dating, he still holds her hand every damn second of the damn day. I am NAUSEATED. If my future boyfriend ever attempts to follow me into the kitchen where the other girls are baking a cake, I will promptly kick his ass.

Okay, I have mostly vented my frustration.

Sunday we went to the Kliprivier’s Nature Reserve. It is so beautiful and calm. It is an oasis in Johannesburg. I am so thankful that they are putting so much effort into keeping a part of the land as it is supposed to be. I felt so content. I read my Eat Pray Love book under the shade, and felt like Elizabeth Gilbert would approve. Bliss.

My plans for the week includes Studying, eating much less, exercising, and ignoring frustrating people. Yours?
