Links I Love: Part V

First of all, we must discuss the big #Brangelina split. I think we all like to pretend that we’re just involved in our own lives my own life and couldn’t give jack shit about celebrities, but let’s just drop all of that for a few and focus on this. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? The internet has been on FIYAH this last few days and it’s been pretty hilarious. My favorite so far is why Jennifer Aniston is not giving a shit that Brad is getting divorced, brought to you by Huffington Post.

Passengers trailer

If there was ever a Jennifer Lawrence in a male form, Chris Pratt would be it. This seems like a great film, something new in space films – I mean, the avenues seemed to have been exhausted to venture into and there two actors are certainly capable to bring it to the table and carry a film as the only two characters.

This Epic Game of thrones theme cover – AHHH it is absolutely amazing

Where is the love? Black Eyed Peas remix

This gave me all the chills. We’ve come to the brink of societal collapse, and on days where I am feeling particularly morose I can’t help but wonder when exactly World War Three is going to break out. It is such a depressing and scary notion, but we cannot expect countries to sit by and constantly have their citizens slaughtered by lunatics. Anyway, on this completely depressing subject, I found the Black Eyed Peas remix of their hit song that was originally released in 2003. It is a song that has always had a lot of resonance, but it seems even more profound today. The remix is incredible and is an excellent production.

What Thor was doing during Captain America:

Bless Marvel for always being some form of a clown. I really enjoyed this clip and thought it was a perfect thing to release to hype people up for Ragnarok.

You need to watch this – South-Africans can be so damn cool when they want to be.

This Snow Patrol crowd that sung the song back to the bad ❤

Okay, there you go. Hope you enjoyed these!

Wayde van Niekerk, a South-African sprinter, became the first runner to break 10 seconds for the 100m, 20 seconds for 200m and 44 seconds for the 400m. He is the favorite to win the 400m this year at Rio. Have I mentioned how ridiculously excited I am about the Olympics coming up?

What did you find interesting article wise the last few weeks?

links i loveHallo! I’m back again with these – I enjoy making them so much 🙂 🙂

Have you seen that Gilmore Girls is (temporarily) being revived by Netflix? Yep! A quick list of what I want to see (I know there was at least ten million similar lists floating around, so I will keep it short)

  • What happens to Rori – does she stay in journalism? Achieve her dreams? Marry Logan?
  • What happens to Lorelai and Luke. I mean come on!
  • What happens to the Inn
  • Did Paris Geller become a doctor?
  • What is going on with Kirk, Taylor, Miss Patty?
  • How are they handling the death of Edward Hermann?
  • Just what is Emily doing with herself?
  • Lane?
  • Sookie?
  • Can we please fit in Jess Mariano somewhere?
  • EVERYONE?

Sonny BillThis pic has circulated the internet after South-Africa lost to New-Zealand 18-20 in the Rugby World Cup Semi-Final. Unlike Japangate, I’m not even mad that the Boks lost. They played amazing and either team could have taken it. I really adore the young guys in the Springbok team at the moment – Lood de Jager looks like a giant puppy running around and Eben Etzebeth is just plain hot. This pic of Sonny Bill Williams consoling the 21-year old Jesse Kriel was the sweetest, because SPORT. (and then after the All Blacks well deserved win at the Finals, he gave his medal to the kid. Can I please marry SBW now, please?!)

Some newsworthy posts:

I disagree with miners pretty much all the time in South-Africa – their demands are outrageous and I really feel like unions are detrimental to this country’s economy. However, when I fully read what was going on in this lawsuit where miners are taking large mining companies to court regarding health battles, I got fully on board this time. No citizen should ever have health issues because they weren’t given proper PPE.

The bridge that collapsed in South-Africa – this story caused such righteous outrage in South-Africans – aren’t we being killed by enough things already? Can our bridges NOT kill us too?

So after what seems like forever, I’ve finally managed to align my life perfectly to sit down at my laptop for five minutes and attend to my blog. I’ve missed it so much – I’ve been able to check a few blogs here and there, but as we all know scheduling posts takes ages.

SO, as I have a few seconds right now, here is something I’ve wanted to do for a while – post about the interesting posts I’ve read – both news worthy and blogging posts. This will hopefully become one of those installments that pops up from time to time – I read a lot of interesting articles and would love to have it up here for those who are interested to check out.

Leading the awesome news this week was the discovery of Homo Naledi at the Cradle of Humankind. I think this might be my favorite news titbit of the past week.

Now this is awkward: This post about Getty images suing a blogging site for the use of the Socially Awkward Penguin (Getty has the copyright on it) was very interesting. It is another subject that interests me – where bloggers should draw the line on images and whether large scale companies should lighten up a bit.

Ellen De Generes responded to Caitlyn Jenner’s not so nice comments about gay marriages. I personally find Caitlyn Jenner now the most irritating of the Kardashian clan and find it extremely rich that someone who underwent such a public and massive change in life would even think of judging what makes others happy.

The Syrian refugee crises had me captivated like everybody else on the planet. It humbles me and reminds me that the troubles we have in South-Africa are not really as bad as I would love to make it. This post from Buzzfeed about how Germany welcomed the Syrian refugees into their country really made me smile and think well of humanity for a moment.

Huffington post put up their weekly 20 funniest tweets from Women This Week again, and it was as hilarious as always (seriously one of my favorite installments of them)

The Telegraph had a really nice post about the Queen of England loving Downton Abbey #class #TheQueenandILoveTheSameThings

Cracked had a post about 6 Iconic Movie scenes that weren’t even planned to happen that way – right up the alley of everyone who reads this blog!

This Buzzfeed post had me go to it twice in stubbornness – the fifty characters in Harry Potter who are named the most.

This blog post from Mushy Peas on Toast sums up my current feelings so well.
